The Federal Government is moving to enact Pay Equity for all federally regulated employers who have 10 or more employees. The Pay Equity Act and Part II.1 of Parliamentary Employment and Staff Relations Act, along with the final Pay Equity Regulations, will come into force on August 31, 2021.

PSAC and UCTE have been able to negotiate Pay Equity settlements for our members in the federal public service and some agencies and companies like Nav Canada. Now everyone who works in the federally regulated sector will be entitled to similar benefits. Once the legislation comes into effect, employers will be required to take proactive steps to ensure that they are providing equal pay for work of equal value.
