Considering the federal government announcements Monday about a wage subsidy of up to 75% for the first $58,700 and the suspension of rent payments for airport authorities, UCTE is calling on all employers who have already laid off or served layoff notices to rescind these.
The goal of the federal government’s financial subsidies and relief programs is to remove the added stress from Canadians about loss of employment while trying to do the right thing in the fight against COVID-19. Members should not have to worry about their present health and how they will survive in the future.
In his morning briefing, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau told all businesses to rehire everyone that they laid off. Our members expect to be treated like all other Canadians.
UCTE has written to all employers who have advised us of their intention to layoff members demanding that our members jobs be reinstated.
Below is the list of employers with the letters.
